Privacy and Cookie Policy

This page explains what personal data we collect through this website, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the rights you have over it. It applies to visitors from anywhere, and the rights described under "Your rights" apply if you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland.

Who is responsible for your data

What we collect

We collect two kinds of information, and they are separate:

  • What you send us. When you request a quote or write to us, we receive your name, email address, telephone number, country, the quantity and variety of trees you are interested in, when you plan to buy, and anything else you choose to write in the message. We use it to answer you, to prepare a quote and to keep a record of the enquiry. Providing it is voluntary, but without it we cannot quote you a price.
  • How the site is used. On every visit we record which pages were viewed and in which language, the country your connection resolves to, whether you arrived from a search engine, an advert or a link, and which advertising campaign brought you if any. We store a small identifier in your browser so that repeat pages in one visit are counted as one visit rather than several. We do not store your IP address or your browser's user-agent string.

Cookies we set

A cookie is a small file this site asks your browser to keep. These are the ones this website sets directly:

  • Essential — set without asking. PHPSESSID holds your session for as long as the browser is open. browseid identifies the browser for 30 days so visits can be counted without double-counting. lang remembers your language choice for 30 days. wt_consent remembers the answer you gave to the cookie banner for 180 days — without it we would have to ask you on every page.
  • Measurement and advertising — only with your consent. Google Analytics and Google Ads set cookies that measure how the site is used and let us show our adverts to people who have visited it. The Meta (Facebook) pixel does the same for Facebook and Instagram adverts. On our Russian-language pages, Yandex.Metrika measures usage. None of these are loaded, and none of them store anything, until you press Accept on the cookie banner.

Who else receives your data

We share data with the following companies, each of which acts as a processor or, where marked, as an independent controller of the data it receives. Several are outside the EEA, and those transfers rely on the European Commission's standard contractual clauses or an adequacy decision.

  • Google Ireland Limited — Google Analytics and Google Ads, including remarketing audiences. Only with your consent. Google acts as an independent controller for advertising data. See Google's privacy policy.
  • Meta Platforms Ireland Limited — the Facebook pixel, for Facebook and Instagram advertising. Only with your consent. See Meta's privacy policy.
  • Yandex — Yandex.Metrika, on our Russian-language pages only, and only with your consent. See Yandex's privacy policy.
  • Twilio Inc. and SendGrid — used to send you the email, SMS or WhatsApp message answering your enquiry. Only for people who have contacted us.
  • We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with anyone else for their own marketing.

Why we are allowed to hold it

For your enquiry and our reply, the legal basis is the steps taken at your request before entering into a contract, and our legitimate interest in keeping a record of business enquiries. For measurement and advertising cookies, the legal basis is your consent, which you gave through the cookie banner and can withdraw at any time.

How long we keep it

Enquiries and the correspondence attached to them are kept for as long as there is a realistic prospect of doing business, and then for a further period so that we can answer questions about past orders. Visit records are kept for two years and then deleted. Cookies expire on the schedule listed above.

Your rights

If you are in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland you can ask us for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, ask us to restrict what we do with it, object to our using it, and ask for it in a portable form. Write to info@waltreeturkey.com and we will answer within one month. If you are not satisfied with our answer you have the right to complain to the data protection authority in the country where you live.

Changing your mind about cookies

You can change or withdraw your consent at any time using the Cookie settings link at the bottom of every page. Withdrawing consent stops the advertising and measurement cookies from being set again; it does not delete data already collected, which you can ask us to remove using the rights above. Withdrawing consent does not affect anything else about the site.
